What Can be Done to Prevent Gun Violence in the Lansing Area?
Does anyone have the answer to this question? What can we do to prevent gun violence in the Lansing area?
Better yet, what can we do to prevent gun violence all across the United States?
This seems to be getting worse and worse as time goes on. There is too much gun violence happening not only here in Lansing, but all across the country and something needs to be done about it.
Not to add fuel to the fire, but did you hear that over the 4th of July weekend, at least 95 people were shot in Chicago?
I've said it once and I'll say it again, gun violence is completely out of control. And even if Lansing hires ten more police officers, how is that going to help stop gun violence when the wrong people are getting their hands on guns and causing harm to others?
According to the Lansing State Journal:
Already, 18 people, four of them teenagers, have been killed with a gun in the tricounty area this year, and four more have been killed by other means.
This is such a serious subject matter and somehow, someway, somebody has to come up with the best ways to help stop gun violence not only here in Lansing, but all across our country as well.
I was reading a great article from preventioninstitute.org, and they focus on several ways to prevent gun violence.
A few of my favorites from the article:
1. Sensible gun laws. Of course this sounds like a great idea, but people have to adhere to these gun laws. They need to find a way to keep weapons out of the wrong hands.
2. Engage responsible gun dealers and owners in solutions. Again, very important as well. Too many people are ending up with guns and causing harm to others. It's just too easy to walk into a gun shop and buy weapons.
Something has to be done as soon as possible. The Lansing area is getting worse with gun violence, so what can we do to prevent it?
