Ever been to Lakenenland? Have you even heard of it?

Lakenenland is another of those offbeat Michigan roadside oddities that are fun for a stopover.

This park has FREE ADMISSION and is open seven days a week, 'round the clock, every day of the year. There are no souvenirs, snacks...nothing to buy; it's simply there for your enjoyment and entertainment.

The park is jam-packed with around 80 sculptures made from scrap iron by Tom Lakenen. There are strange, odd, bizarre, beautiful, funny, unique, clever, scary...and even political creations that you'll get a kick out of.

You can walk through, or drive, if walking is not an option.

According to Tom Lakenen on Atlas Obscura's webpage, “I built a band shell out of scrap material also, for anyone to use for open jam sessions.....There is a lean-to shelter with a fire pit for anyone enjoying the great outdoors in the winter, two ponds for kids to fish in the summer.”

Take a look at the photos below...they just may peak your interest enough to add this stop to your Northern Michigan roadtrip!

Lakenenland Sculpture Park is located 15 miles east of Marquette on M-28, across from Shot Point Road.
