The Empty Shop at Layton Corners, Pleasant Lake

I remember this little place when it was open.

Called the Pleasant Lake Trading Company, it lies empty at the intersection of Meridian and Berry roads at Pleasant Lake, Henrietta, Layton Corners, or any other name you wish to call it.

I’m not sure of all the businesses or names it has undergone over the decades, but I do recall the time I visited over 25 years ago. When I stopped in, they had quite the collection of hot sauces lining the shelves – at least a hundred or more different types and brands. Being a fan of hot sauce, I recall stocking up on many bottles before I left.

As evident by the deteriorating pumps out front, it was a fill-up station as well as a party store. Anyone know the brand of gas they sold here?

Sadly, when I went back in search of more hot sauce, they were closed...for how long, who knows?
