Inside the Abandoned Henry Ford Powerhouse, Detroit
Henry Ford's former 'pride and joy' turned out to be one of the creepiest abandoned explorations in the state.
Ford's River Rouge powerhouse complex just outside of Detroit was once one of the most impressive factories in the world. Coal and iron was “magically” turned into brand new automobiles, in a time span that lasted almost eighty years.
The Powerhouse was the pulse of the complex that began operating in 1921. With Ford's ability to hire the most competent employees, it became the most “powerful powerhouse” in the world.

It successfully chugged along until 1999 when it met its tragic demise. One of the boilers suffered a gas explosion which spread through the whole plant and ended up killing six workers. This incident is still one of Detroit's worst plant/factory/industrial accidents.
So far, the plant has been partially demolished, but there was still more than enough left for some videographers to enter and get images. Scroll down a ways and take a look at what's left of Henry Ford's River Rouge Powerhouse.....
