Top Thrill Dragster Closed in 2022 Due to Injured Michigan Woman

If you asked me how many times I've been to Cedar Point over the years, I could honestly tell you that it's been countless.

The first time I went I was in Jr. High School when I was about 14 years old. I can tell you that I fell in love with Cedar Point. All the great rides, games, and food.

You could be at Cedar Point all day long and never get enough of this incredible amusement park. Even after all these years, I still like going to Cedar Point.

There is one ride that I have never been on and it's called "Top Thrill Dragster."  In 2003, Top Thrill Dragster opened as the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world.

People from all over the country have traveled to Cedar Point just to ride the one and only "Top Thrill Dragster."

Here we are in 2022 and now "Top Thrill Dragster" will remain closed until further notice. This is all due to a Michigan woman who was injured and taken to the hospital for head injuries a while back.

According to mlive.com:

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 15, a L-shaped metal bracket, about the size of a hand, flew off the back of one of the roller coaster's trains at a high speed and hit a woman standing in line. She sustained severe head injuries and was life flighted to a hospital in Toledo, her current condition is unknown.

No matter what, I feel real bad for the woman who was hit in the head with an L shaped bracket. We certainly hope that she is okay.

Cedar Point acknowledged that it did not perform what is referred to as the "standard overhaul procedures" for the ride in 2021-which it typically performs annually because the ride saw limited use in 2020 due to pandemic-related park closures.

We can tell you that an announcement was recently made that Cedar point did not violate any laws or rules regarding the operation or maintenance of "Top Thrill Dragster."
