The storm will begin impacting Michigan late Tuesday as rain moves into Lower Michigan and snow for the Upper Peninsula and parts of the northern portion of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. The rain and snow are not the biggest concern; strong winds are expecting to move in by Wednesday morning. Sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts 50 to 60 mph forecasted for Wednesday afternoon going into the evening.

The National Weather Service is warning the powerful winds could cause power outages throughout Wednesday and more dune erosion along the already battered Lake Michigan shoreline. The worst conditions are expected from Whitehall south where wind gusts and waves may exceed 50 mph and 10 feet, according to the National Weather Service. They are also urging those lakeshore residence to make preparations for such conditions.

Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday is expected to be quiet weather wise, but a second wintry system will be moving through late Saturday into Sunday. This system will begin as participation but cold air and strong winds could produce snow and a wintry mix.
