These 2 Michigan Cities Are Infested With Termites: New US Top 50
Spring (mainly April and May) is termite season, and we aren't off the hook in Michigan. Orkin has released their list of the 50 most infested in America, and while we didn't have any cities in the top 10, there are a couple of Michigan cities that make an appearance (complete 50 city ranking below).

Termites don't enter your thoughts until you end up shin-deep in a floorboard with your foot dangling into the basement. However, once you have a termite problem, and if it goes unnoticed for too long, you could also face a money problem, as these little pests cost an estimated $5 billion in damage yearly in the US.
Termites Are Creeping North
As you scroll through the list of the top 50 most termite-infested cities below, you'll notice that most of the top cities are located in the south. While that might be somewhat comforting, Orkin reminds us that termite trouble is inching further north every year thanks to a shift in the climate.

Here are a few signs you may be dealing with an infestation:
- Tiny, winged insects swarming near your windows
- Mud tubes in your foundation or crawlspace
- Paint that bubbles like it's trying to tell you something
- Wood that sounds more hollow than your kid's excuses for hoarding spoons
- A pile of wings or what looks like sawdust near your walls
Because, as true Michiganders, we prepare for everything from snowpocalypses to mosquito swarms, don't let termites be the one thing that sneaks up on you while you're distracted by stink bugs. Let's see which two Michigan cities made the top 50 most termite-infested in America.
