Goodnight, Michigan: The Ideal Thermostat Setting for Deep Sleep
I'm not sure what goes down in your home, but sleeping temperature is a constant debate in mine. Well, it's more so me complaining about how cold it is in our bedroom and my wife telling me I'm wrong. How cold is it?

Our bedroom is so cold the local flasher broke in and decided to just describe himself to me. It's so cold that we don't need to clean the bedroom, we just defrost it. Our bedroom is cold enough to make Richard Simmons wear pants...it's that cold. Am I exaggerating? Maybe.
Finding the Ideal Sleeping Temperature for Tired Michiganders
Curious as to how arctic sleeping temperatures may impact my sleep, I did a little research and please don't tell my wife, but she has the thermostat within Michigan's sweet sleep mercury settings. That said, our room is the furthest point from the furnace and the thermostat, making it the coldest in our home.
According to the Sleep Foundation, the right temperature is vital to getting a restful night's sleep in Michigan. Your body temperature naturally drops while you're sleeping and a cooler (not frigid) makes it easier for us to drift off and stay asleep.
The overnight experts at the Sleep Foundation, who study this stuff for a living, say that the ideal temperature range for sleeping in Michigan is between 60 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit. That said, their recommended thermostat setting is...65 degrees.

While I'm certain my bedroom our bedroom is cooler than that (I'll ask the penguins who have taken up residence on my bedside table), it seems as though our thermostat is set within the correct Michigan temperature setting for the best night's sleep.
