When it comes to living in the State of Michigan, we've got it pretty good. There's plenty of fun things to do all year long. Outside of outdoor activities on the water, on the slopes or on the trails, there are plenty of other factors that make Michigan a great place to live.

When it comes down to a city to settle down in, other factors like crime, schools, job opportunities, affordable housing and more come into play. I want to live in a safe community with low crime and violent crime rates. Good schools are a must, I have two kids and want them to learn in a safe and healthy environment. When it comes to job opportunities, the more options the better. Being able to live in a city that won't leave me "house broke" is important too. Affordable housing is key.

According to U.S. News & World Report, this is the criteria used to determine the best places to live:

U.S. News looks at data on the country’s 150 most populous metro areas, including the cost of living, job market, crime rates, quality of education and more. The data is weighted based on responses from a survey of approximately 3,600 people throughout the U.S. to determine what matters most to them when picking their next places to live.
