By the end of 2021, they'll be down to SIX.

Kmart is shuttering its last-remaining store in Michigan, the state where the once-proud retail chain launched in 1899. It's one of a series of store closings that will leave the company with only six locations in the continental United States still in business by year's end. (fox5vegas)

The artist formerly known as Kmart on Cedar Street in Lansing has been shut down since spring of 2017. It's been a little over four years and we now have a glimpse of what's to come.

Kmart saved you cash. U-HAUL will be saving you space. And business must be booming because right up the street at the corner of Cedar and Jolly is ANOTHER U-HAUL.

This location provides self-storage, truck rentals, and more. It might be half a mile (if that) from the renovated Kmart that's about to become a U-Haul self-storage location. Pretty close.

Apparently business is booming for U-Haul and demand for self-storage is through the roof. We don't know if the pandemic has anything to do with a bigger need for more storage facilities in this area of town, but rumors of this plan began in July of 2020. Back then, U-Haul said it would like to invest $10 million dollars into the South Cedar store.

No word yet on when they will open but according to the sign out front...
