The unofficial start of summer in Jackson isn't, contrary to popular belief, when school lets out. It's when kids start asking every 12 minutes if it's hot enough to go swimming.

Good news: Nixon Water Park is back for the season.

Nixon Water Park opened June 14 and will remain open through August 8, giving Jackson-area families nearly eight weeks to cool off, burn off some energy, and spend a few hours somewhere other than the living room.

In a world where it feels like everything costs more than it did five minutes ago, Nixon Water Park remains one of the better bargains in Mid-Michigan. Admission for the 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. session is $5 per person. The afternoon session, running from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., costs just $4. Sunday hours are 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., with admission set at $5. Visitors planning multiple trips can purchase a 10-swim pass for $40.

What You Get for Your Money

Nixon Water Park features a swimming pool, water slide, waterfall, splash areas, and plenty of room for families looking to escape a hot Michigan afternoon. Admission covers an entire swim session, so guests can enjoy three to four hours in the park, depending on the session they choose.

While Jackson's Ella Sharp Park is preparing for future additions such as another skate park, a pump track, and climbing features, Nixon Park remains one of the city's most popular summer destinations.
