New Tenant Coming to Jackson Crossing Mall Has Plenty of Fur

The Jackson Crossing Mall in Jackson, Michigan, is getting a new tenant... well, several new tenants, each covered in fur, scales, or skin, all waiting to find their forever home. The Cascades Humane Society officially opens its new satellite location on June 3, 2026, followed by a ribbon-cutting hosted by the Jackson Chamber of Commerce at 12:30 p.m.

New Tenant Coming to Jackson Crossing Mall

The Cascades Humane Society's newest location will be an adoption center, complete with small animals like cats, guinea pigs, and other more petite animals surrendered to the shelter. If you're more of a dog person, a Daily Dog or puppy will be brought to the shelter during business hours to hang out for the day, but will return to their "room" at Cascade's main shelter at 1515 Carmen Road in Jackson.

What the New Jackson Crossing Location Will Offer

According to Cascades Humane Society's Executive Director, Stefanie Riggs, the satellite location is a way for the shelter to become more visible and top of mind within the community.

Some may not have even noticed or been aware of the Carmen Road location, that is, until Bailey Excavating cleared a wooded area on their property in an effort to make the non-profit visible from the highway for the first time.

"Not a Pet Store"

Riggs went on to say that the new location "is not a pet store, but an extension of our mission." That mission? "To connect animals in need with people who care."

So the next time you head into the Target Wing of the Jackson Crossing, park in the Jackson 10 lot, enter the mall, and take a left. Who knows, you may find out there's an animal there looking to connect with you.
