Have You Seen This Made In China Tag With Your Purchases?

Maybe I'm being paranoid.

Maybe my brain can't comprehend it making much sense in this time of pandemic.

Maybe I'm overthinking.

Surely Target and Amazon both know better and take the precautions needed to make sure this stuff is safe.

I'm not trying to be xenophobic (don't know if this is the right use of this word for right now) or have Anti-Chinese sentiment. And my fears may well be interpreted that way.

Recently I ordered some PM 2.5 filters from Amazon.

They arrived pretty quickly. But the packaging and product tag inside stood out to me.

Big time.

Especially when it looks like this.

And your brain starts doing cartwheels.

Can I trust it? Do I trust it?

I know folks who would have sent it back immediately.

And maybe it's on me that I didn't check to see where it shipped from.

All I know is when I order from Amazon, is Prime shipping it?

And that is usually enough for me.

But to see this tag. And then start thinking China and Wuhan and everything.

And then just the other day at Target.

I go in and right after you walk through the door and past all the dollar zone stuff, they have washable face masks right there.

And there are two to a pack.

They come in multiple colors. Sizes. Pretty simple easy.

$4.00 a pop.

What a bargain. And well played Target. Cause you know I can't just walk in there and get what I came for.

But even before you purchase the package, if you flip it over, you see this.

There it is again.

So here we are. And here's the elephant in the room. Is this stuff safe?

According to the experts, YES. Yes it is.

Thankfully, there is no way the coronavirus could be active long enough on a surface for it to be transmitted through the touching of a package or a product shipped from one of the manufacturing epicenters of China like Guangdong, Zhejiang, and Shandong. 

 

“I would not worry about the virus hazards,” said David Evans, a professor in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Alberta in Canada. “I would be very, very surprised if there was any type of active detectable virus on pretty much any surface.” (Digital Trends)
