Restaurants keep coming and going…a lot of my favorite ones have closed down and I miss ‘em!

Some establishments were closed due to the pandemic, some due to Michigan’s statewide smoking ban, others for different reasons entirely.

I used to dig goin’ to the Big Boy just north of Frandor…and the Imperial Gardens in Okemos… and the Traveler’s Club, Whaling Station, Mountain Jack’s, Backstage, Firehouse, White Castle, and others.

Other favorites of local residents include:
Jim’s Tiffany
Emil’s
Pour House
Don’s Truck Stop
Sambo’s
Bill Knapp’s
Sweetwater Wharf (later Jambalaya’s)

House of Ing closed for good on March 31, 2016.
