We knew it was coming, but we didn't expect it to be this, well, BIG. Big Lots, a national discount retailer specializing in discontinued and repackaged merchandise with nearly 1,400 locations, announced its intention to close around three dozen stores nationwide this year. The move is meant to bring the company back from the brink of financial ruin. Then, according to an August 2, 2024 Detroit Free Press article, the company announced they'd expanded their closure list to 300 stores nationwide, including 11 total in Michigan.

As of publication, Michigan has 46 Big Lots stores scattered throughout the state. A quick look at the retailer's website shows that 11 of those are now emblazoned with an orange "CLOSING THIS LOCATION" header. Here's a look at the 11 closures to date we will see for Big Lots in Michigan:
