How the Michigan Crash Rankings Were Calculated

Using 2024 crash data (the most recent available) from Michigan Traffic Crash Facts and U.S. Census numbers, the law firm ranked the Top 20 Most Dangerous Cities in Michigan for car accidents based on crashes per 10,000 residents.

Which Michigan City Ranked Worst for Drivers?

According to the report, the most dangerous city in Michigan for car accidents is Walker, where drivers racked up 546 crashes per 10,000 residents. That translated to 1,416 total accidents, 323 injuries, and four fatalities. That's a shockingly high number, considering Walker has just under 26,000 residents.

Michigan Auto Law used official crash data from Michigan Traffic Crash Facts, along with U.S. Census population numbers, to rank cities with at least 500 crashes and populations over 10,000.
