Michigan-Based Belle Tire Agrees to Big Brand Buyout
A Michigan tire institution is changing owners, although Tireman has not been seen packing up a U-Haul. Big Brand Tire & Service has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Belle Tire, the century-old company founded in Detroit in 1922. This is not a completed sale yet.

The deal remains subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close during the third quarter of 2026. That's a fancy way of saying the lawyers have to go over everything before the sale is a done deal.

Modern Tire Dealer reports Belle Tire operates more than 180 stores across Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. Adding those locations would push California-based Big Brand beyond 530 stores nationwide and more than $1.5 billion in revenue. Big Brand is owned by the private equity firm Percheron Capital.
What Happens to Belle Tire Employees?
The companies are talking heavily about investing in frontline workers, improving employee satisfaction, and using Big Brand's operating systems to make daily life easier. Belle Tire President Don Barnes III said the partnership should help the company invest in its people and continue to serve the communities.

That said, the announcement did not provide specific details about possible staffing changes, store closures, or leadership changes. Corporate announcements love the phrase "people first." Employees generally prefer "your job is safe," which was not specifically stated.
What Michigan Customers Can Expect
Big Brand and Belle Tire haven't announced any immediate rebranding, so hopefully, Tireman will still give us his trademark "Belle Tire." For now, Michigan drivers can expect the Belle Tire signs to stay put while the paperwork (and lawyers) finish their slow stroll to the closing table.
