I'll bet you've never ever read an article before that starts like this:

One time, many years ago a buddy of mine got Salmonella poisoning.

See, I told you.

Yeah really, he did. And let me point out that "my buddy" is not code words for "me". No, as far as I know I have never had Salmonella poisoning. But my friend sure had it and he sure knew it. He had gone on a school field trip I think to the Bahamas or somewhere like that and he ate something he shouldn't have and got Salmonella. And of course he had to share all of the gory details with all of his buddies, including me. Thanks.

According to the Mayo Clinic:

Typically, people with salmonella infection have no symptoms. Others develop diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps within eight to 72 hours. Most healthy people recover within a few days without specific treatment.

So my buddy must've gotten a huge dose because of all things I don't remember that he told me about this adventure, I do remember one predominate theme...Pain.

I don't like pain and I'm sure there's a lot of people who feel the same way. Well this is why according to News 10, you should avoid eating onions that have been recalled from Thomson International, Inc. You should also avoid food that includes these onions. By the way, these onions are not just red onions. They are also yellow, sweet yellow and white onions, too.

The onions in question are responsible for 44 cases of Salmonella cases in Michigan so far. If you were to ask my buddy, I'm sure he'd tell you that's 44 too many.
