Abandoned Roller Coaster, Overgrown in the Woods for 55 Years
There's an abandoned roller coaster sitting in the woods, smothered by bushes, trees, and all kinds of foliage. It has been sitting there, rusting away, out of sight from everyone for almost 55 years.
Just south of the Michigan/Indiana border in New Carlisle, this roller coaster / toboggan rail track was constructed in 1970...but it never opened, and no one had the chance to ride it. The powers-that-be figured it was way too dangerous for anyone to ride.
Who were these powers-that-be? They were the park director and park board president....the ride was so wild, the two men were thrown out of it while giving it a test run. After recovering from their great spill, they shut down the coaster before it even opened.

The images below - thanks to Midwest Flesh - may just spur you on to visit the Bendix Woods and see this for yourself.
