Where is your favorite place to vacation in Michigan?

I'm going to be honest, I don't have an actual favorite place to vacation in Michigan. As long as I'm in the woods and close to a body of water, I'm happy.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore was just voted as the best vacation spot in Michigan on MLive. I mean, it's a great choice! Not only do the dunes have history, but they have amazing beaches, tons of stuff to do, and beautiful views to see.

Do you think you have it in you to do the famous Dune Climb?

Hiking all the way through the dunes takes 3-4 hours to do. It's a 3.5 mile hike to Lake Michigan. If you plan on going, make sure you pack lots of water and some snacks!

If hiking isn't for you, you can check out the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive or take a canoe trip on the Crystal and Platte Rivers.

For more information visit the Sleeping Bear Dunes website.

Pet-friendly vacation spots

There's tons of great places to visit that are pet-friendly in Michigan. If you're looking for a weekend getaway, check out these pet-friendly hotels.

You and your dog or your adventurous water loving cat can check out one of these pet-friendly beaches or maybe kayak or paddle board at  Woods & Waters or Third Coast Surf Shop!

Other great vacation spots in Michigan

Muskegon has tons of beaches and waterfront restaurants to visit! If you're looking to hike, Muskegon State Park has 12 miles of hiking trails. It's also a great place to visit in the summer, you can ice skate through the trails, sled and cross-country ski.

Picture Rocks National Shoreline is another beautiful place to visit that's on the shore of Lake Superior in the U.P. Their visitors center is currently closed but you can still walk the trails and camp!

Mackinac Island's State Park was just voted as Michigan's best by travel magazine, Condé Nast Traveler. It has tons of history and numerous outdoor activities. It contains 70.5 miles of roads and trails. Some of the islands attractions  and breathtaking views include Fort Mackinac and Sugar Loaf.
