Michigan Woman Embezzled Hundreds of Thousands from Employer

Not in a million years could I ever embezzle money from any of my past or present employers. That's not the kind of person I am nor would want to be.

Unfortunately that's not the case for all people. For some reason, there are some who think they can get away with embezzling large amounts of money from their employers.

Nine times out of ten, you're going to eventually get caught and have to pay the price. The price is prison, plain and simple.

Why would someone even want to take such a big risk like that? You'll end up losing in the long run.

Most recently, a judge in a Jackson courtroom sentenced a woman from Jackson, who apparently embezzled more than $600,000 from her place of employment.

According to mlive.com:

Abigail Terwilliger, 32, was sentenced to one year in prison and 60 months probation by Jackson County Circuit Judge Susan Jordan Wednesday. Terwilliger pleaded guilty in March to one count of embezzlement of more than $100,000 from her former employer Peak Manufacturing.

This makes me so angry when I think of all the honest people right here in Michigan who go to work faithfully every day to make a honest living, and who would never even think of stealing from their own employers.

I'm sorry, but there's no excuse for embezzling money from any company that's paying your salary and trusting that you will be an outstanding and trusted employee.

Peak Manufacturing President Amanda Hutchings spoke at Wednesday's sentencing, claiming she still has trouble believing it was her trusted colleague and friend behind the embezzlement.

This kind of thing can affect so many people, so why do some people choose to embezzle money? In my opinion, it all boils down to greed and dishonesty!
