The NHTSA has concerns about a potential fire risk in these vehicles, stemming from a specific manufacturing defect that could lead to the engine compartment combusting. This is bad. If you own one of these vehicles DO NOT PARK INSIDE ANY STRUCTURE.
Until you can take your recalled vehicle in to have the issue resolved, it is recommended you take the following precautions:
- Park Outside: Until the issue is resolved, park your affected Kia or Hyundai model outside, away from structures. (I'd also like to recommend not parking it next to anyone else)
- Stay Informed: Regularly check for updates on recalls and safety alerts to stay in the know.(here's a link)
- Spread Awareness: Share this critical information with fellow Michigan drivers to ensure a collective commitment to safety
Now you know. If you own one of these makes and models get on the phone (numbers below) and get an appointment set to have the fire hazard issue resolved. There should be no cost for the repairs.
