New Study: Michigan a Hotspot for Bigfoot Sightings
Personally, I've never seen one. Does that mean they don't exist? Well, I've never seen a porcupine in Michigan, but that doesn't mean they aren't there. In fact, if you live in the Mitten State, we now know, thanks to a study conducted by Bet Ohio, that your odds of seeing Bigfoot are better here than in most states.

According to Hangar 1 Publishing, Michigan has the environment most Sasquatches are looking for. While we're more concerned with where the best schools are in Michigan, Bigfoot couldn't care less. All they want is a cave and to be left alone.
Bigfoot Should Fell Right at Home in Michigan
Though there have been sightings across the state, my money's on Bigfoot living somewhere in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Let's take a look a closer look at what their preferred habitat is and try to tell me Sasquatch isn't a Yooper:
- Low human population density: CHECK
- Close to water source: CHECK
- Elevation ranges between 1,000 to 4,000 feet: WELL...
- Michigan is close, but according to NetState, on average, it's only between 500 and 1,000 feet above sea level—but Mt. Avron (the highest point in the state) stands at 1,979 feet tall, and it's in Lanse, which is in the UP.
- Diverse vegetation: CHECK
- Complex terrain: CHECK(ish)
- Habitats that experience cold winters: DOUBLE CHECK
If Sasquatches aren't living in Michigan, they are at least spending the summer here.
So, with the Mitten State being a prime(ish) location for a family of Squatch to settle down and make a go of it, how often are they spotted, and what are your odds of spotting one? Scroll on to see where Michigan ranks in the top 15 states for Bigfoot sightings.
