MI Crime A-Z Part III: Annual Crime Analysis East Grand Rapids to Huron Township
This data set, Michigan cities and towns that fall alphabetically E through H, features two of Michigan's largest metros, Grand Rapids and Flint. Which one do you think saw more violent crime in 2021 (the year of the FBI analysis)?
Surprisingly, if you guessed Flint, you'd be wrong. Despite having double the population, Grand Rapids (201,799 compared to Flint's 95,212) had more violent crime, with 1,286 reported. Flint was only two crimes behind at 1,284.
As to murders in the same year, Flint totaled 23 compared to Grand Rapids 8. The most startling statistic in this data set is the amount of rapes that occurred, with Grand Rapids reporting an alarming 144.
