If you've lived in Michigan long enough, you know that no matter where you are, you're only a few minutes away from a body of water. We have so many lakes that there's been several attempts to create a master list.

When you think of heading to the lake, does a beach always pop into your mind? Because that's usually what I think of.

Have you ever pictured a beach that isn't located right next to a shoreline? You're probably like "Erica, what in the world are you blabbing about now?"

What would you say if I told you that there's a man made beach in Michigan and it's smack dab in the middle of a city?

Campus Martius Park in Detroit

You may be aware that in the winter time, Campus Martius has a rink where you can ice skate. Well, in the summer they turn it into a beach and it's the coolest little hangout spot.

It's actually one of my favorite places to visit in the summer because it has a tropical vibe to it and makes you feel like you're chilling on an island somewhere.

What's a beach without some boozy drinks and food? Better find yourself a designated driver because the drinks from Fountain Detroit are no joke. They've got a variety of drink choices. So, pick your poison. Are you in the mood for a rum runner or a spiked slushie? The choice is yours.

Of course you've got to put some food in your belly if you're drinking. They have flatbreads, chicken wings, salads, burgers and more! After you're done boozing it up, sweat it out by checking out the new roller rink in downtown Detroit!
