According to the Lansing State Journal, local residents will soon have a new destination for local food.

Organizers of the East Lansing Food Co-op are working to open a new storefront at 3026 E. Michigan Ave. sometime this summer.

The new site comes nearly two and a half years after the co-op shuttered its previous location along Northwind Drive in East Lansing.

The store will likely open in July or August.  And since the location is in Lansing Township, the new store likely means a new name.

The East Lansing Food Co-op officially organized in 1976 with 30 members.  The co-op's store in East Lansing closed in February 2017, just months after a whole Foods opened a few hundred yards away.
