Three Iconic Michigan Hotels Make the 10 Best Resorts in the Midwest List
One thing is for sure, Michigan knows how to vacation. From our extensive lakes to our stunning shoreline to our immense historical sites, Michigan is the hotspot for travelers. With all of that, amazing hotels and resorts are abundant just waiting to greet guests from around the world.
Recently Travel + Leisure took the time to enjoy some of the most infamous resorts throughout the Midwest for its 'World's Best Awards".
"Travel + Leisure asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe — to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Readers rated hotel brands on their locations, rooms/facilities, food, service, and overall value".
Known for offering some of the best inns for nature lovers and those who enjoy resorts with the beauty of their surroundings adding to the experience, the Midwest has a huge selection to choose from. With the best of the best chasing the highly sought-after Top 10 list, Michigan made an amazing showing securing 3 of the top spots this year.
Landing in the 8th spot was Hotel Iroquois on Mackinac Island. One of the oldest properties on Mackinac Island, Hotel Iroquois has only been run by two families since it began operating as a hotel in 1904.
Finishing just a few spots ahead in 6th was its neighbor down the street, Grand Hotel. Known as the gem of Mackinac Island, the Grand is world-renowned for its elegance and of course that massive legendary porch. Since it opened in 1887, the resort is always a summer favorite.
Giving the number one choice, the Deer Path Inn, Lake Forest, Illinois, a run for its money was the elegant Hotel Walloon. Northern Michigan’s only privately owned AAA Four Diamond Hotel, the quaint 32-room inn was also selected one of the "Best Winery Hotels in the United States" in the USA Today 10Best Reader's Choice Awards this year.
Each of the selections offers something uniquely their own for their visitors while keeping the Pure Michigan charm in the forefront.
