According to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the tallest waterfall is actually Douglass Houghton Falls at 110 feet. It’s located on the Keweenaw Peninsula off M-26 between Lake Linden and Laurium.

Coming in at 110 feet, Douglass Houghton Falls rise above. Douglass Houghton Falls used to be a lot of fun, Waterfalls of the Keweenaw Area states:

A wildly tall and impressive waterfall, Douglass Houghton Falls was once a popular destination for locals and Michigan Tech students alike. Crumbling cliff walls and numerous accidents, many of them fatal, pushed the land owner to cut off access. While the falls are still reachable by following Hammell Creek upstream from Lake Linden, the danger of a careless visit cannot be understated.

Use caution if you plan on hiking to the top. Enjoy your visit to the U.P. and don't forget your pasties and smoked whitefish on the way back.
