This is the Only Old Store Building Left in Hagensville, Michigan
The Michigan ghost town of Hagensville is located out in the middle of the isolated Michigan countryside, all by itself, in Presque Isle County’s Belknap Township.
The Hagensville population isn't known because the census obviously didn't think the town was worthy enough to count the residents. Very uncool of the census, because Hagensville is an historic Michigan town and excellent place to stop for a few photo ops.
In the late 1800s-early 1900s, Hagensville boasted three general stores, post office, blacksmith, saw & shingle mill, school, farm implement store and a flour mill. It was a settlement that grew around the lumber company of Hagen & Pines and named after Bill Hagen.....leaving Wilson Pines off the village name.

Hagen became the first postmaster when the post office opened in 1886; it closed for good 26 years later, in 1912.
Fortunately for all Michigan explorers (that doesn't mean trespassers), one of these classic old buildings still stands. The building in the photos looks like it could've been a hotel...or general store...or livery stable...or blacksmith shop...or a combination of a couple of 'em. All others that once stood on either side of this building have been demolished.
The remains of Hagensville are located at the intersection of E. Co. Rd 638 and County Road 441, about six miles south of Rogers City. Scroll down and see photos below.
