It's looking like there's going to be some new job opportunities in Fremont after Gerber Products announced earlier this week that they will be investing $36 million in new product lines and programs. This major expansion is expected to create 50 full-time jobs.

According to WXYZ, the investment will allow them to advance their production of freeze-dried snacks that are designed to melt in a baby’s mouth.

In a press release, Birgit Klohs, President and CEO of The Right Place who worked closely with Gerber and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to solidify the investment had this to say:

Gerber’s Fremont facility has been a critical component of our regional economy for decades. Beyond providing hundreds of quality advanced manufacturing jobs with competitive wages, Gerber also supports the regional agribusiness industry and has strong relationships with local growers and suppliers. This investment will strengthen Gerber’s presence in the region and position the agribusiness industry for continued growth.

Gerber's is a huge part of the Freemont community so I would have to imagine this will have a nice ripple effect throughout Newaygo County.

At the end of the day, it's nice to see some positive news after reading about so many businesses going under due to the coronavirus pandemic.
