East Lansing Bar Ordered To Answer Questions Over Coronavirus Outbreak

A Michigan bar still appears to be in hot water over a coronavirus outbreak that stemmed from the establishment not adhering to proper social distancing guidelines after reopening in June. According to reports, this incident is what led to Governor Gretchen Whitmer closing indoor service to businesses that mainly serve alcohol.

The scene of the alleged outbreak happened at Harper's Restaurant and Brewpub, located at 131 Albert Street in East Lansing. WNEM lists the following infractions against the bar,

• Large crowds inside of the bar.
• Not adhering to social distancing
• Not wearing face masks.

So what does all of this mean? Apparently the Michigan liquor regulators have questions regarding 180 people being infected with the coronavirus at this establishment. Some of those questions include what they did to protect employees and customers. The Michigan liquor regulators apparently want to check the bars licenses as well.

I have no idea how this will turn out, but I do have an opinion on overcrowding during the pandemic. I do not like it. I have ordered a lot of carry out, and have seen both sides of the spectrum. I have walked into a bar and or restaurant that has a completely new setup, and appear to be complying with the Governors orders. I have also seen some places that are 'business as usual'. No changes, no social distancing.

I want all local businesses to succeed, but being shut down over not complying to guidelines or even worse, having an outbreak, is not going to help anyone.

Harper's Restaurant and Brewpub is currently closed.
