According to the Lansing State Journal, Nolan Hawkins hasn't had many opportunities to play this spring for a Dewitt baseball team that has plenty of talent and depth.

Hawkins delivered the clinching hit while helping Division 2 No. 7-ranked Dewitt wrap up its latest district title with a 10-0 mercy-rule victory over Eastern in five innings at Lansing Catholic.

Hawkins relished having an opportunity to contribute to a fifth straight district championship for the Panthers.

Hawkins is excited about what could be in store for the Panthers over the coming weeks.  He is one of 12 seniors on the roster that would like to help Dewitt make a lengthy state tournament run and defend its Diamond Classic title.
