Did This Arby’s Close Thanks to the Party Store Next Door?
Another one bites the dust. This time it’s an Arby’s in the Michigan town of Jenison, located on Chicago Drive just east of I-96.
It sits next to a convenience/party store by the name of ‘Kum & Go’ - whether or not that had anything to do with Arby’s moving less than a mile west to Church Street is anybody’s guess. The 'Kum & Go' name has been used since 1975 with chain stores in several states, is very popular, and is a decent place to stop 'n shop...but still, there are some people who do a double-take with raised eyebrows when it comes to the name...
The inside of this former Arby's looks in very good shape and whoever owns it should not have any problem selling or bringing in another business. The only problem I can see with this place is the garbage that has been dumped into the enclosed trash area out back. It was probably thrown there by an anonymous person, looking for an easy place to discard it.

It’s an old-school Arby’s with the ghosts of the old Arby’s logo still very visible on the outside.
How did Arby’s get that name in the first place?
It's widely stated that it was named in 1964 after the founders, the Raffel Brothers with the initial “RB”. Whether a coincidence or not, but “R&B” are also the initials of ‘roast beef’...Swear up and down all you want it was named after the Raffels, but I’ll bet ‘roast beef’ had a hand in it too.
