Lansing Cold Case: 10 Years of Seeking Justice For Mathew Straub
Over ten years ago, on April 23, 2015, Mathew Straub called his mom, who was with his wife, Sharika, at the time, to say that there were two men outside his home that he didn't recognize. WILX, who spoke with Straub's mother, Barbara Holliman, in 2018, said that the phone call came at 9:38 a.m.
It would be the last time she would hear her son's voice.
Just 22 minutes later, she was at Straub's home at 616 Fenton Street in Lansing, Michigan, facing a front door that had been kicked in, and calling for a son who would never respond. She called 911, and the Lansing Police Department (LPD) would find him fatally shot on his kitchen floor shortly after.
A Decade Without Answers
Straub was only 39 when he was murdered. Put yourself in the shoes of Holliman, who is left with the weight of reliving those 22 minutes between talking to her son and finding out her son had been shot and killed.

Now, take all of that, and try to imagine adding the fact that your child's killer has never been brought to justice. But that doesn't have to be how Mathew's story ends. In fact, you may hold a piece of information that could crack the case open and bring answers 10 years overdue.

Maybe you saw something. The murder happened in Straub's home, at 616 Fenton Street. In a 2016 interview with WLNS, Lansing Police Detective Brad St.Aubin said he believed that it wasn't a random robbery, and that Strab was targeted because he was legally growing marijuana in his home.
Did you see something off that day that has stuck with you, but you felt it wouldn't help? It might. It could be the information needed to solve this decade-old cold case.
