What a shock.
Another place that claims to have been a hideout for Al Capone.
Golly gee, that’s a new one, ain’t it?

Just how many freaking places are there in Michigan that claim to have been either a hideout, home, retreat, or summer getaway for Mr. Capone? Too many, and that makes these claims beyond belief.

I’ve had my fill of these, but I’m sure more will pop up in the decades to come, as the legend that is Al Capone may loom even larger in the minds of celebrity-fixated young minds with fertile imaginations.

I’m not saying it isn’t possible, but there are just too many of them.

Stories that were spread by the locals said this was a Capone hideout and was also a brothel for a while. Capone did own a good number of properties, many of them under an alias (I mean after all, he was Public Enemy Number 1).

The home in southwest Michigan (Berrien County, I'm guessing) was once owned by a Chicago businessman named Montel Stewart who really dug horse racing and entertained many horse race fans at this place. He lived here in the 1950s, long after Al Capone could have had anything to do with it.

With both Capone and Stewart being from Chicago, I guess there could be some sort of connection there, but who knows? It’s all speculation.

Meantime, take a look inside this run-down old dwelling. See if you can picture Capone roaming around in it, entertaining his buddies with prostitutes, boozing it up, and cavorting in the swimming pool. The gallery is below.
