Halloween is about a month away. And this time of year we usually get into that debate about which Halloween candy is the worst. Candy corn is usually up there along with Necco Wafers. The list goes on and on.

I mean this year, the kids and trick or treating probably isn't going to happen on the grand scale it usually does. And if by chance you find yourself handing out candy in some shape, form, or fashion please stay away from the black licorice.

Not that it was at the top of your candy list anyway right? I mean who does that to children? What did the kids in your neighborhood do to you to warrant you handing out packages of black licorice? Was it on sale?

Do you want your house egged? Cause that's how you get your house egged.

And it's gross. When presented with two bags of licorice and your choices are red and black, why would you go with the latter?

It's all goth and such and pretty much represents all thing dark and evil like Halloween, but why would you eat it?

By the bag? Every day for a couple of weeks. Because THAT my friends, could kill you.

A construction worker in Massachusetts died after eating too much black licorice caused his heart to stop, doctors reported Wednesday.

The 54-year-old ate a bag and a half every day for a few weeks, which threw his nutrients out of whack and system out of balance, according to the Associated Press. (MLive)

Turns out Satan's favorite snack candy can increase your blood pressure, lower you potassium, cause abnormal heart rhythms, and congestive heart failure.

If you’re 40 or older, eating 2 ounces of black licorice a day for at least two weeks could land you in the hospital with an irregular heart rhythm or arrhythmia. (FDA)

So stick with the Red Vines just to be safe. They've never let me down. Or tried to kill me.
