Abandoned Amusement Park – Pirate’s Park: Flint, Michigan
WARNING: Under no circumstances should you enter this property. By doing so you risk bodily harm and/or prosecution for trespassing on private property.
More and more of Michigan's amusement parks just seem to disappear. Some abandoned, others seem to fade away into the woods with the brush and tress taking over until you could never tell there was once a park there.
Many other parks are shut down, demolished, leveled, and covered with either a new building, housing development, or parking lot.
Pirate's Park in Flint still shows signs of its past glory. From the air you can still see the Go-Kart track, bumper boat pond (with old bumper boats still in the water), the old blue 420 feet tall water slide, batting cages, concession stand, arcade, and the remains of the miniature golf course. For a charge of $8.95, you could ride the water slide all day long.

The park opened in 1991 and closed in 2011. But has it closed for good? In 2015, a developer said his company was going to tear down the remainder of the park and put up a four story hotel, indoor storage units and assisted living facility.
But THAT didn't happen. Now there is a push to fix up Pirates Park and re-open...but actually happening is another whole tale. There is a go fund me site for the park, where they hope to raise $300,000, even though in reality, it would take three million to do the job.
Now take a look one more time into the deserted grounds of the old Pirates Park – overgrown, weedy, crumbling, rusted, vandalized...and keep your fingers crossed for a miracle.
