Surrounded by Ghost Towns: White Pine Village, Mason County, Michigan
Have you ever been to White Pine Village near Ludington? It would make a great stop during a Michigan road-trip.
Michigan was king when it came to lumbering...this historic village re-creates what life was like in these northern Michigan lumber towns back in the late 1800s. White Pine Village opened in 1976, with acres & acres packed with history: antiques, artifacts, original log buildings, log cabins, sports Hall of Fame, museums, a rare original Opera Car, an operating saw mill, the very first Mason County courthouse which was constructed in 1849 and much more.
There's an ice cream parlor, gift shop with old-fashioned toys and lots of antiques & memorabilia for mom & pop.
White Pine Village opens from May thru October and it's not that far away...it's just a mile or two south of Ludington, a block away from the Lake Michigan shoreline in Mason County.

BRANCH on US-10
HAMLIN, once known as LINCOLN, near Hamlin Lake
WELDON CREEK, east of Ludington on US-10 ...just to name a few...there are plenty more for you to scope.
