We all need some good news. Those out of work and collecting unemployment in Michigan will now get 20 extra weeks of benefits. The state made the announcement today.

Typically, you only get around 20 weeks of unemployment benefits but the Federal Government tacked on 13 and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer added 6 weeks when it began. Now, with the extra 20 it's 59 weeks of unemployment pay for Michiganders! The weekly max check is under 400 bucks so it's not like anyone is getting rich off the state.

This is a good sign for those who were about to lose their benefits and money right before the holidays.

If you were laid off in March when the pandemic began, you'll be covered through April of 2021. Click here to see the full story.

It's unclear if self employed workers or independent contractors are eligible but I would give it a shot if it were me.

It's a crazy time to be starting a new job but I see a lot of opportunities out there for people who want to work. Help Wanted signs are everywhere. But if you can stay home and safe and still collect money, what incentive is there to go out and work?

For those who are working, it seems like they are doing more jobs than ever and being stretch further than ever. Plus, employers are seizing the opportunity to do some purging.

Buckle up. This ride is about to get a bit bumpy.
