Tom Hanks Just Found Out He’s Related To Mr. Rogers

If this is a publicity stunt to promote the upcoming movie, 'A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,' then it's one heck of a stunt. Tom Hanks just found out he's actually related to Fred Rogers.

Hanks portrays the much loved Mr. Rogers in the upcoming film due out November 22nd, and critics are already talking Oscar with his uncanny portrayal. He resembles the children's television show host completely and now we may actually know why.

At a recent New York screening of 'A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,' Access Hollywood broke the news to the star and his wife, Rita Wilson, that he is actually related to Mister Rogers! With the help of Ancestry.com it was discovered that Hanks and Rogers have a common ancestor named Johannes Meffert, making the pair sixth cousins. "Fred Rogers and Tom Hanks are sixth cousins sharing the same 5x great-grandfather who immigrated from Germany to America in the 18th century," Ancestry spokeswoman Keri Madonna told CNN on Tuesday.

As for Hanks learning of his new family connection, his response was sweet and simple, “It all just comes together, you see." Totally a Mr. Rogers response.
