I know, I know...I post quite a bit about the lack of the classic old motion picture theaters in Lansing. But some were more than theaters...they were PALACES. They were awesome establishments that are jaw-dropping and eye-popping today.

Why don't we have theaters like those today? And why did we lose them in the FIRST place?

The Michigan Theatre on Washington in downtown Lansing was built in the 1920’s as the Strand Theatre. It was a majestic theater with plenty to do instead of just seeing a motion picture. It’s a shame that someone decided to shut it down; what a grand palace it was!
