The Dogman is Back.
Actually, he never left...but he is scheduled to re-appear soon.

Any longtime Michigan resident has heard the tales and urban legends that surround the Dogman. Is it a half-man half dog? A werewolf/wolf man? Or is it some kind of Bigfoot what resembles some kind of dog/wolf/human creature? Maybe it’s simply a bear standing on two legs (which can be said of a Bigfoot as well)? A cougar? Not likely.

The Michigan Dogman is a seven-foot-tall creature with a dog's head, a man's torso, and blueish eyes. The noise it makes is not a howl or whine – it's more of a human scream.

So what the heck is it and how did all this stuff start anyway?

The first reported sighting of Dogman occurred in 1887 by two lumberjacks in Wexford County and he reappears every ten years, but only in years ending in 7...so our next Dogman sighting should be in 2027. According to listverse.com, they describe this first sighting as: “the creature appeared before a group of lumberjacks in Wexford County. Figuring it was a large wild dog, they chased it until it (hid) in a hollow log.....these guys stupidly starting jabbing it with a stick; the Dogman let out a weird shriek and jumped out of the log.....the men practically soiled themselves and ran like scared rabbits.”

There have been books, songs, movies, and documentaries about Michigan’s Dogman, but he doesn’t stop there. There are also claims of a – or maybe THE – Dogman in Wisconsin and West Virginia.

In 2017, a Michigan trucker claims he encountered the Dogman one creepy night. According to an interview with him in Ourmidland.com, he described what happened as he drove his truck through a wooded area: "There was a wolf head the size of my window.....He was stooping down on two legs looking down inside of my cabin......His hands were coming up scratching my window sill. On my door handle I could hear his claws.....It has a lot of sharp teeth and the teeth on this thing were like brilliant white.....Three-inch long fangs bottom and top. Pure black pointed ears. It had yellow eyes. With human-like hands.....It was at least ten feet fall.....His yellow eyes were darting all over the place and looking at me."

According to Listverse.com, another occurrence took place around 1937 when a fisherman in the Muskegon River saw a pack of wild dogs came charging out of the woods. He fired his gun to scare them off, but one wasn’t afraid and refused to move. It stood up on his hind legs and tried to stare down the fisherman. The man shot again and the creature disappeared back into the woods.

Of course, the Dogman legend is great fodder for practical jokes and hoaxes.
Believe what you want.
And look for him in 2027.....
