Memorial Day weekend is the perfect time to open Ingham County's public beaches. They open to the public on Saturday, May 28.

This is the perfect time because temps on Saturday are going to be in the mid 70's and if we move ahead to Monday (Memorial Day) and Tuesday, May 31, temps will be in the '80s and close to 90 degrees.

So I would have to say that people are ready to get out of the house, head to their favorite swimming area just to have a little recreational fun.

The Lansing State Journal adds:

The beaches at Burchfield Park in Holt, Hawk Island in Lansing and Lake Lansing Park South in Haslett will have lifeguards on duty from noon to 8:00 p.m. every day, weather and staff permitting, although swimming will be allowed at times outside those hours, parks officials said in a news release.

Another fun place to take the kids this weekend is straight to the Hawk Island Splash Pad. Not only kids, but even parents have a blast flying down the splash pad.

What is the Hawk Island Splash Pad all about, check it out at parks.ingham.org.

The Splash Pad at Hawk Island is a zero depth water park with fifteen features to spray, splash, and dump a blast of refreshing cool water!  The Splash Pad water is clean and treated so the whole family can cool off!  The variety of splash features offer something for kids of any age.  The Splash Pad is located adjacent to the beach house, offers lounge chairs and chaise lounges for adults to relax while the kids enjoy themselves.  Large shade kites surround the Splash Pad for those really hot days.  Grab your suit and a towel and come play in the water!

Have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend and enjoy all swimming beaches in Ingham County.

LOOK: Here are the best lake towns to live in

Many of the included towns jump out at the casual observer as popular summer-rental spots--the Ozarks' Branson, Missouri, or Arizona's Lake Havasu--it might surprise you to dive deeper into some quality-of-life offerings beyond the beach and vacation homes. You'll likely pick up some knowledge from a wide range of Americana: one of the last remaining 1950s-style drive-ins in the Midwest; a Florida town that started as a Civil War veteran retirement area; an island boasting some of the country's top public schools and wealth-earners right in the middle of a lake between Seattle and Bellevue; and even a California town containing much more than Johnny Cash's prison blues.
