With Ingham County officials weighing how best to spend $3.5 million generated each year through a parks and trails tax, talk about a pathway linking Michigan State University to Lake Lansing are up and running again.

The five mile trail has been discussed at least twice by Meridian Township officials over the past 15 years and has gotten nowhere.  Last week, township representatives told a group of county commissioners that they're going to try again.

Meridian officials see it as a $7 million, three phase undertaking, but right now they're concentrating on the first step, a $1.68 million, 0.8 mile trail running mostly north along the Red Cedar River between Hagadorn and Park Lake roads.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
