On Friday November 11, we give thanks and salute all the men and women who have served our country past and present.

There are several ways you can thank veterans. For example: You can send a care package to an active service person. You can also give a veteran a meal and even attend a Veterans Day Parade.

And here's something to consider as well, how about a new lifetime pass which offers free access to National Parks for veterans, active military and families.

Just think, free access to more than 2,000 federal recreation areas, which includes national parks, wildlife, refuges, lakeshores and forests.

According to mlive.com:

A free lifetime pass is available for Gold Star Families and U.S. military veterans. Current military members and their families are eligible for a free annual pass.

This is a great thing for all veterans and their families. And this definitely includes some outstanding National Parks right here in Michigan.

Mlive.com also adds:

“Your national parks are place of recreation, connections, healing and remembrance. Thank you for your service.”  In Michigan, the passes will provide free access to some of the state’s top attractions including Isle Royale National Park, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

If and when you get the opportunity, please take the time to thank all veterans for their incredible service. They deserve our recognition and a whole lot more.

Veterans and active duty military personnel can get free meals on Friday, November 11. They can also receive free discounts and coupons at restaurants and fast food chains throughout the country in honor of Veterans Day.
