New research, conducted by personal injury attorneys at the John Fitch Law Firm, has revealed which of Michigan's professions suffers the most non-fatal injuries. Let's count down to the Mitten's State's Most Dangerous Job.

In order to determine which Michigan professions suffered the most non-fatal industries, the Fitch Law Firm analyzed available data from all industries per 200 million hours. This number is valuable as it is the sum of 100,000 full-time workers at 40 hours per week, 50 weeks per year.

3. Hospitals: Healing Comes at a Price

Hospital workers claim the 3rd spot on the list. If you've ever worked in the industry before this doesn't surprise you. Healthcare workers grabble with the physical strain of transferring, and occasionally subduing violent patients. They do this many times while handling infectious diseases and exposure to numerous other hazards.

Coming in second on the list of Michigan's most dangerous careers are the dedicated crew in nursing and residential care facilities. As with healthcare workers, the demanding nature and physical demands of providing patient care take their toll on direct care, nursing, and support staff.

For every 200 million hours worked, Nursing and Residential Care Facility Workers suffer 10.4 non-fatal injuries.

Topping the list of Michigan's most dangerous careers is a profession that works with some very dangerous 'clientele'. Corrections Officers in Michigan work long hours, often well over 40, in facilities that house violent criminals.

Michigan is full of hard-working people who are willing to put their bodies on the line to ensure the safety of the sick, the aging, and those paying for their crimes.
