The error was caused when officials didn't properly update voting machines after a last-minute change was made to the ballots. The county clerk, Sheryl Guy, said in a report that the error was an honest mistake that she “owned, acknowledged, and accepted.”

Antrim County Prosecutor, Rossiter, told the Washington Post that he declined Giuliani's request.

“I said, ‘I can’t just say: give them here.’ We don’t have that magical power to just demand things as prosecutors. You need probable cause.”

Focus has now turned towards the small rural county in Northern Michigan. The Post reported that Giuliani allegedly tried to use the initial tabulation error in Michigan to illustrate how the 2020 election was rigged.
