Michigan Pride Festival & Parade in Lansing is June 15th

June is Pride Month. Why?

The month of June was chosen for LGBTQ Pride Month to commemorate the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. As a result, many pride events are held during this month to recognize the impact LGBTQ people have had in the world. (Wikipedia)

And as we kick off Pride Month, gigantic leaps are being made for the LGBTQ community right here in our own backyard. Just yesterday (Tuesday, June 4th) Governor Whitmer supported newly introduced legislation that would expand Michigan’s civil rights law to include protections for LGBTQ people. Whitmer says, it is time for the state to be on the “right side of history.” (62 CBS Detroit)

The Michigan Pride Festival in Lansing (Old Town) happens on Saturday, June 15th.

The 2019 Michigan Pride Parade & Rally at the Capitol

happens that same day and kicks off in front of Adado

Riverfront Park and kicks off at 12 PM.

The parade will end at the Capitol just in time for the Rally at the Capitol steps to begin.
