This is going to be a terrific weekend, Not just because it's the weekend, but because fairs and festivals are in full gear right in our own backyards.

After being a virtual event last year, the East Lansing Art Festival is back and in person this weekend. In its 58th year, the festival that brings art to the streets of East Laning takes place this Saturday and Sunday.

The Ingham County has been in full swing this week at the fairgrounds in Mason. The fair, in its 167th year, will wrap up Saturday night.  There is still a lot to see, so as they say, "bring um' to Ingham". The midway is open daily and you can check out all the delicious 'fair food' that awaits you.

This is also the week of the Red Cedar Jubilee. which takes place in Williamston.  Celebrating their 50th Jubilee, Williamston welcomes visitors from all over Michigan and beyond. The event features a craft show, delicious food, concert series, Euchre tournament, and a huge parade Saturday morning. My husband, WILX News Anchor David Andrews and I will be announcing the parade. We would love for you to come and check it out. The event wraps up on Sunday, August 8th.

The Saginaw County Fair, located at the fairgrounds in Chesaning, will wrap up Saturday night. Still, plenty of time to enjoy the midway, check out Santa's Village, eat some great food and stroll the livestock pavilions.

As some fairs are wrapping up, the Jackson County fair kicks off Sunday in Jackson. Featuring shows from Toby Keith, Mercy Me, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, a fun midway, and Monster Truck Show. The Jackson County Fair runs from Sunday the 8th until the 14th.

The Shiawassee County Fair will also be starting on August 8th, located on Hibbard Rd in Corunna. This fair offers lots of fun things to see and do, Tractor pulls, pick-up truck pulls, draft horse obstacle courses, wood carving shows, and a lot more.

Summer is still going strong, so get outside and enjoy the fairs, festivals, and even an elephant ear to two. Quick safety tip: eat after you hit the midway rides. You will thank me for that.
