This beautiful Sheppard mix is now back in his Detroit home for the first time in 4 years.  Here's what happened.

Desirae Cornell rescued Jack when he was a little puppy.  Cornell originally rescued the pup from it's previous owners who said they were going to have the dog put down according to Click On Detroit,

Jack’s then owners said she could take the dog or they were going to euthanize him. She took him, got him his vaccinations, checked for heart worm, neutered and microchipped.  A few months later, someone got into Cornell’s fenced yard and stole him.

Desirae couldn't get another dog after she lost her little guy Jack.  She was heartbroken.  Cornell was sure that she would never see him again.  Little did she know that a strange series of events near Flint, Michigan would eventually bring him back home.

Law enforcement responded to a report of a homeless man having medical issues.  While getting the man medical attention the police officer noticed the man had a dog with him.  That lead the officer to contact Streethearts Dog Rescue.  The local animal rescue scanned the dog for a microchip and found Desirae's contact info.  That's when Desirae got the phone call she never expected.

Jack is now safe and healthy at home with his human.

If this story sounds familiar, it's because this kind of thing is surprisingly not rare.  Last December a Kalamazoo couple was reunited with their dog that was missing for 3 years.  In summary, get your pets microchipped.  Click here for that full story.
